“How to Water Your Cello Garden”

Cello fiddlers are continuing to break free of the orchestral shackles and are growing in numbers - but how are we to keep up with the technical demands of fiddle tunes written by fiddlers, for fiddlers? Our ability to participate in the joyful flow is often limited by our facility in navigating our instruments! Join World on a String cello guide Charlee Wielgoz on an intrepid exploration of cello technique for fiddling cellists!!!

When we think of technique, so often we get stuck in a mindset of perfectionism, or just an endless series of to-do lists and exercises. But, technique has always represented FREEDOM, and a facility of connection of expression directly to your instrument. It’s learning about your body, mind, and learning how our emotions are connected to an immediate external expression.

No sound is good or bad, they just have different characteristics. We might intend this or that (and in this workshop, of course we will learn to connect intention to what you can do,) but sounds are inherently neutral. Sometimes you can discover really cool sounds even before you label sounds as “good” or “bad”, and we can be in a space of true discovery: who knows, you might stumble across a fabulous new sound you’ll use in your next tune!

Come and learn what the cello can do for you!
